Two years ago I couldn't even do a french plait! & now looking back I am so proud of myself for all the different hairstyles I have managed to create. I didn't do this from going on a course this time, I did it from teaching myself.
Spending my spare time watching youtube tutorials and practicing non stop on friends, family and those ugly doll manikins (Mine being named ugly Betty).
Out of all my beauty services I provide this is by far the most rewarding for me as I achieved it by teaching myself.
Once I had mastered the french and the dutch plait, all the other hairstyles seemed to come naturally, there are so many different styles you can create by just knowing how to plait, as shown in the pictures.
All it takes is practice and working at something you enjoy doing. When I started doing bridal hair, I had a lot of self doubt as I had been self taught and hadn't learnt by paying for a course like all the others. However, never underestimate your ability to be great at something. Confidence is the main thing I have gained from doing weddings. At first I felt like it was the most stressful situation I had ever been in because I was so anxious that I wasn't good enough. Then I started receiving my thank you cards, my reviews and being recommended to others. I now have the attitude that if I wasn't good enough, I wouldn't be getting booked. So I turn up to my weddings, being myself, being bubbly, having fun and believing that i'm going to make the bridal party look amazing :)
